My Story
Whale sharks are the largest existing fish and feed on plankton. In the past 75 years, their populations halved due to shark fin hunting and pollution. Despite their size, we have only little information about whale sharks, making conservation difficult. Luckily, based on people's reported sightings, we are getting to know a little bit more about these gentle giants. But even the little information we have about them is changing rapidly now that ocean temperatures change, forcing the plankton and the whale sharks to move to different areas, showing the importance of continuous research to be able to protect them.
